Simon cowell is not cool with britain’s got talent when they unveil “puppy prizes”

Simon may be a tough judge, but he’s a softie when it comes to animals. A dog dad to Yorkies Squiddly and Diddly, he is particularly fond of canines.

During a quiz segment on Britain’s Got Talent, Cowell and the other judges were asked questions by host Stephen Mulhern. Correct answers were “rewarded” with a Dalmation puppy.

When Cowell was handed a prize puppy, he immediately tried comforting the bewildered pup. Between the bright lights and the loudly cheering audience, the little Dalmation was trembling in the strange surroundings.

Simon had no qualms bringing the “Puppies Got Talent” quiz to a screeching halt before the second round, expressing concern for his puppy.

“She’s frightened, this one,” he said, interrupting Mulhern, and took the pup backstage where she could calm down and be comfortable. According to the Mirror, Cowell was reportedly furious over the stunt.

He remained backstage, and the quiz was prematurely ended.

Before the end of the show, host Mulhern addressed fans with an apology:

“Very quickly, I just want to apologise if we upset anybody with the puppies. Obviously that was not our intention in any shape or form. So if we have upset you in any way I do apologise on behalf of Britain’s Got Talent,” reported the Mirror.

If you’re a Tonight Show fan, you know that Jimmy Fallon sometimes does a “Pup Quiz” segment where he and a guest get to snuggle puppies in oversized recliners. Then there’s the Puppy Predictors, who rush to a food trough to “predict” big game winners. However, these puppies don’t appear to be in distress, being carefully carried onstage by handlers. The stage is also adequately lit (with no frightening lighting effects) and the puppies don’t seem to be subjected particularly loud effects noises. Plus, the Fallon audience of around 240 guests appears to be much smaller–and presumably, quieter–than that of Britain’s Got Talent.
